Naplan 2015

21/08/2015
Year 3 and Year 5 students have lots to smile about when it comes to their performance in the 2015 national literacy and numeracy testing. Overall, as a school there are certainly some great results and ones that need to be celebrated. I know it is a consequence of all of the fantastic, hard work being put in by all of our students and the quality learning led by our teaching staff.

I am super proud in that every student has tried really hard even our students who find literacy and numeracy overwhelming at times. This is evidenced when you have a look and see that Yandina’s percentage of students above the National Minimum Standard in Year 3’s in 5 out of the 5 areas above the National percentage and Year 5 it is above in 3 out 5 areas. We just missed Year 5 Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation by a little over 1%.

In 4 out of 5 areas in Year 3 Yandina is within the National mean score comparison while our Year 5 students have shown substantial improvement as a group but still remain below the National mean score. Our improvement agenda of reading is working with both Year 3 and 5 students. Year 3 have shown the way with 42% of our students with results in the upper 2 band levels. Year 3 spelling and Year 5 grammar and punctuation results are disappointing and are certainly an area of future focus for our school.
