Physical Education is taught to all P-6 classes by a specialist teacher for 40min per week. The younger grades receiving 2 lessons a week for consolidation. These lessons include activities that cover content such as fitness, fundamental movement skills, active play, minor games, early years perceptual motor program and major games. A Surf Awareness program is attended by Year 6 students in Term 1 at Noosa Beach. Year 5 and 6 students also participate in interschool sport against other schools in the Nambour District. Inter House Sports Carnivals also take place throughout the year. These include: 9 to 12 Year Old Inter House Swimming, Cross Country and Track and Field Carnivals and Prep to 8 Year Old Sports Day.
Teams are also selected to attend various soccer and rugby league carnivals held here on the Sunshine Coast. Another highlight of the year is the Fun Run Fundraiser held later in the year.
Some of our students have successfully represented Nambour District and the Sunshine Coast Region in representative sports.
Physical activity is encouraged all year around at Yandina State School, helping students grow in confidence through perseverance, resilience, teamwork and leadership, celebrating success and dealing with disappointment.
