Our YSS Surf Education and Awareness program is attended by Year 6 students in Term 4 and consists of 2 segments:
A surf safety talk at school, prior to going to the beach, for ALL students participating in beach activities, which covers aspects of surf awareness including:
· hazard identification,
· flags and safety signals
· rips and wave types,
· marine creatures
· how to be safe while at the beach
· who to contact in an emergency?

· what to expect during the surf education program here at Noosa, including
· what we would expect of the students to ensure they have the best possible experience.

Surf Education and Activities at Noosa Main Beach
Students will be under the instruction of Experienced and qualified Surfers at Noosa heads Surf Lifesaving Club. They will be divided into small groups and rotate through four separate activities each session and progress as they go. Rotation activities include:
· Swimming and self-survival skills
· Nipper board and wave orientation
· Ironman Fitness (run, swim, bodyboard)
· Surf board paddle and basic lifesaving rescue skills
