In late 2024, Yandina State School successfully secured a one-time grant of $5,000 from the state government as part of the Food for Schools Program.
This funding aims to assist schools in either establishing or enhancing food programs that improve the quality of food provided to students and increase access to healthy food and beverages throughout the school day. Schools may also allocate these funds to support other initiatives focused on enhancing the quality and accessibility of food assistance. Funding amounts are determined based on the specific needs of each school.
So far, the funds have been utilised to purchase much-needed kitchen appliances and equipment, while the remaining amount has been directed towards providing emergency food for students and families in need. Additionally, we plan to launch a breakfast club, which will start by offering breakfast to students in Year 3 and Year 5 during the upcoming NAPLAN Week.
