On Saturday 15th July and Sunday 16th July, our Sparks Robotics Team attended and competed in RoboRAVE. This is an International Robotics Competition for teams ranging in ages from 8 to adults to test their design and coding skills in one or more events.
Saturday was for the a-MAZE-ing teams, who had to design, build, and program a robot that could follow a raised wooden maze without falling off. All teams worked hard all day and while they didn’t make finals, they definitely impressed the referees with their persistence and determination. Meanwhile on Sunday, we had the Sumo teams, who had to design, build, and program an autonomous robot that can search for and push an opponent sumo robot off an elevated wrestling ring. Today was a little frustrating with the organisers struggling to organise our division. However, all teams were working well with the changes, while working together and encouraging each other.
I was very proud of how our competitors today worked with all of the changes. Thank you so much to families for encouraging the Sparks students and getting them to our competition. Extra special shout out to our wonderful parents and staff who volunteered their time to help out the RoboCoast team put on such a great event.
