Yandina State School was proud to welcome Ted O'Brien for a special visit celebrating student learning and civic engagement.
During his visit, Mr O’Brien formally presented the school with a new Australian flag to mark the installation of our new flagpole. The presentation provided a meaningful opportunity for students to reflect on national identity, respect, and the significance of national symbols.
Students also showcased their talents, with our Sparklers performance group delivering an energetic and engaging routine that highlighted the confidence and creativity of our learners.
A highlight of the visit was Mr O’Brien’s time with our Year 6 students, where he spoke about civics and democracy in Australia. Students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and gaining valuable insight into how Australia’s political system works and the role citizens play in shaping the future.
The visit reinforced the importance of student voice, active citizenship, and connecting learning to real-world contexts.
Yandina State School thanks Mr O’Brien for taking the time to visit and support our school community.
